It’s been another busy year for Salusbury Harding & Barlow Solicitors and a year of change. We have welcomed new starters to the firm, while saying farewell to Clive Cook, who retired back in March. Clive started with the firm back in 1986 and he is sorely missed. Read Clive’s story... Let’s introduce the new team members who have joined us over the past 18 months.
James Smedley, Licensed Conveyancer
James Smedley has recently joined Salusbury Harding & Barlow as our new Licensed Conveyancer. He will be managing a caseload of both residential and commercial sales and purchases, from inception through to registration.
James previously worked in residential conveyancing for 8 years for firms in Leicestershire and Bedfordshire. He loves dealing with complex title issues and providing comprehensive and satisfactory resolutions for clients, especially in difficult situations. Outside of work, James is an aspiring horror-thriller author with a fiction manuscript of 60,000 words that he’s eager to publish. He also enjoys reading and plays a lot of squash.
Hannah Black, Paralegal
Hannah Black joined Salusbury Harding & Barlow in November as our new Paralegal. Assisting fee earners in our family law department, Hannah works on all aspects of family law cases, including children matters and divorce proceedings. She enjoys meeting with clients to discuss the next steps in their cases, providing support and advice as necessary. As legal proceedings can be extremely stressful, Hannah’s aim is to make sure her clients are fully informed to ensure a smooth transition throughout their legal matter.
Hannah graduated from De Montfort University with a First-Class Honours degree in 2019. In 2022, she gained a Distinction in her Masters degree in International Human Rights Law from the University of Leicester. Hannah recently completed the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law and previously worked at two local law firms in the family and childcare departments. Her experience includes care proceedings and private law applications concerning divorce and children disputes.
Outside of work, Hannah has been a season ticket holder at Leicester City Football Club for many years. She also enjoys theatre performances, particularly musicals.
Noah James Duffin, Office Administrator
Noah actually joined Salusbury Harding & Barlow in 2023, but we wanted to welcome him into the firm. In charge of locating files, Wills and Deeds for our team, Noah also deals with the archiving of closed files and stationery orders. With a background in both retail and office-based roles, he has worked in similar positions for other solicitors. Noah enjoys the variety of his work and being able to set his own schedule, as long as all work is completed.
Outside of the office, Noah enjoys reading mainly finance and philosophy works, and you can often find him at the library on his lunch breaks.
Julie Edge, Trainee Assistant Legal Cashier
Julie also joined us in early 2023, but we thought we would use this opportunity to welcome her formally into the firm! Julie’s role involves opening new matters, entering invoices and undertaking general banking duties. Previously, she worked in a variety of admin and bookkeeping roles. Julie enjoys her role as it’s always busy and engaging. Outside of work, Julie enjoys seeing the Take@That tribute band with friends, swimming, gardening and visiting her lovely home by the sea.
We wish all of our new starters the very best with their careers at Salusbury Harding & Barlow, and we hope they continue to settle in well.
Thank you to all our clients and business friends for your support in 2024. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
